Obama Supporters Prepare Riots in Denver

Obama cannot win the Nomination. The DNC will not disenfranchise Florida and Michigan, and Clinton will secure both a delegate and popular vote. She has, after all, never been trailing by less than 20 delegates! In response, Obama supporters -lovers of popular democracy-  are already threatening to tear down the Democratic Convention in Denver.

They call themselves “Recreate 68″ (R68) and while they claim no association with Barack Hussein Obama, the facts speak otherwise:

1) Recreate 68’s claim of being both against Obama and Clinton, is false. While there are no traces of “official Obama campaign” input into R68, an Anti-Clinton spirit predominates, and considerable R68 contingents are active in the official Obama campaign- with direct  ties to influential Obama activists.

2) Leading R68 coalition members have both a history of harassing the Clinton Campaign, and pledging financial support for Obama.

 3) Leading R68 organizers make explicit reference to stopping “superdelages” and emphasize a “fight against racism” and equally, the need to protest in Denver with “victims of racism”. This obviously has nothing to do with Clinton, everything to do with Obama.

4) R68 core-rhetoric, a reference to “grassroots” and recreating the spirit of the “Civil Rights Era” nosedive with the Obama campaign message.

5) “Hard-Protest Action,” obstructive tactics such as road-blocks, seizing bridges, blocking delegate routs, and any other illegal activity, including violence are clearly being condoned. Recreate 68 - is far from just the “spirit of 68″ - it is a real attempt to re-stage the past.

6) In the official Recreate 68 statement, Violence is not preached or expressly condoned, but just as in Chicago of 68, it is promoted as a “reaction” to inevitable police brutality. Illegal action such as obstruction, is bound to make intervention inevitable, and the protesters are gearing up for violent confrontation.

7) While official R68 statements emphasize “self-defense” - core coalition members of R68, explicitly prepare for violence.

“Recreate 68″ seeks to recreate the spirit of the bloody Democratic National Convention of 1968 held in Chicago, and speaks with two heads. One head issues veiled threats to Denver authorities about inevitable conflict, another head  claims it seeks to recreate not the blood of Chicago in 68, but the spirit of uprising and revolution permeating the globe in a year when Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy were assassinated, Czechoslovakia saw its independence crushed, Paris was set a blaze by students, and Chicago became an American sideshow.

Some illiterates in the media have dully bought into this two-headed doublespeak of recreating the spirit of 68. How ironic, considering that Chicago 68 were what is called a “police riot“! An attempt to first Recreate 68 in spirit, and if the authorities and police do not allow them to get away with it then recreate it in kind, is a Xerox copy of what actually occured in Chicago of 1968! When the “spirit” of 68 protestors and demonstrators became obstructive to the Convention and City of Chicago, police waged in and all hell broke loose.

“The 68’ Chicago riots, which lasted five days, nearly destroyed the city of Chicago. Anti-war demonstrators clashed with 11,900 Chicago police, 7,500 Army troops, 7,500 Illinois National Guardsmen, and 1000 Secret Service Agents. “[source]

The Recreate 68 message speaks for itself - it is a not so finely veiled threat to stir up conflict, and riots. Core coalition members plan on “obstructing” the Denver Convention in exactly the same way their brethren did in 1968 in Chicago. It was just such obstructions which led to inevitable conflict while organizers, as they do now, stressed the need for violence in “self-defense.” They were,  in their own words, there to confront the “System” (Trinity United Church of Christ favorite scapegoat - The White System).

The parallels between Chicago 68 and intentions, and Recreate 68 intentions,  are unambiguous.

A subpage of the R68 homepage, still under construction, reads

WEAPONS OF THE PIG! SOME OLD SOME [link]

The first part is a quote, directly out of the 1968 playbook.

The official R68 call to Arms reads:

This website was created for all the grassroots people who are tired of being sold out by the Democratic Party… Join us in the streets of Denver as we resist a two-party system that allows imperialism and racism to continue unrestrained…. In 1968 there existed a spirit of change, the Paris Rebellion, Prague, Chicago, Vietnam, etc. People believed, around the world, that they were capable of taking over the institutions that controlled their lives. The smell of revolution was in the air. …We are predominantly a youthful group …We intend to recreate that revolutionary feeling and pick-up where our predecessors left off…reclaim the ideals that we have forgotten and leap forward by stepping back …a voice that is shouting for change, a voice that has realized we live in a police state and we have stopped moving forward 40 years ago.

Stuck in a Time Warp: Police State, Shouting for Change, pick-up where predecessors left off, recreate revolution, racism continues unabated, sold out, grassroots- hm…sounds awfully similar to what most Obama supporters believe and openly advocate - and reflects a significant portion of Obama’s own explicit rhetoric!

The irony of a Black candidate from Chicago, with ties to Black Preachers of Hate like Farrakhan and Wright, enjoying support from Hamas and the New Black Panther party, trying to seize the spirit of the sixties and recreate it in 21st century America, while a “grassroots” movement seeks to Recreate Chicago’68 at a Denver convention in order to strong-arm the DNC into granting him the nomination, will no doubt be lost on the mainstream media. As the abuse of history, for the egotistical purposes of one egomaniac, will be lost on the liberal intellectuals who incessantly rail against such abuses when practiced by anyone without the “liberal (self-hate) stamp of approval.”

Just how far R68 is willing to go to Recreate the spirit of the 68 Chicago riots, is evident from their silly “Statement of Non-Violence & Principles” You’d be excused if you thought it rather disingenuous to not find a single line disavowing violence in the entire “statement,” and feeling shocked upon reading its opening sentences

We are committed to resisting and overturning a system of violence inflicted daily on people of this country and the world, and against the natural environment, by political and corporate power, in the pursuit of profit. We are resolved that our group will not instigate violence against human beings as a means to end this system of violence and injustice. However, we recognize the right of the people to self-defense and community defense.

R68 should rename this “non-violence” statement, for what it is, a “statement of of non-instigation.” How 1968 indeed!

Especially since core-coalition members of R68, are expressly urging the use of violence in Denver.

The bulk of R68′ts “Statement of Non-Violence” is devoted not to “non-violence” but to ten principles, headed as “10 Mutual Assurances Between Groups And Organizations Planning DNC Related Activities.”

Considering the open advocacy of violence by some of these “Related Groups” most of the “principles” of this “Statement” should be interpreted as “when Related Groups instigate violence”-

Not to publicly criticize the tactics used by other parts of our movement or cooperate with media efforts to be divisive or portray good protester/bad protester.

To be conscious that if violence or property destruction does occur, we will do what we can to help prevent it from being blown out of proportion and dominating the media coverage.

Not to turn people over to the police, or share information with the police about other groups.

Let me translate what this means in practice: When our buddies obstruct delegate routes, smash windows, and riot, the official R68 umbrella organisaiton will not say a word.  Code Pink, MoveOn, ANSWER, will shut up.

If the media try to devote any attention to such violence, R68 will try to distract them (??) and since it knows most of the people already gearing up for violence, and the authorities are likely to approach R68 members and organizers, they are already declaring that anyone joining their protest has to abide by their ten principles, meaning- they all pledge not to divulge the identity of Criminals in Arms.

But how quickly will those words “non-instigator” turn into “self defense” when the sticks start flying.

This is moronic behavior by a group of childish thugs who see the writing on the wall with the inevitable nominee being Senator Clinton. I was in LA during the riots following the Rodney King trial. The AA community had every right to be outraged when the cops were acquitted, but their anger got them nowhere. Watts is still racked with violence, and people are still oppressed in those communities.

They are choosing a poor way to wage for “change.” IF they were really smart, they would see that Obama represents anything but…

I think what we need to realize is that these people don’t care, they are looking for their “days of rage”, their claim to fame. Now they have the “puke pseudo-hero Ayres” to use as a role model, the man who wishes he had done more bombing.

And those fools in the MSM are validating it. Even Wm. Crystal said something on Sunday about the violent consequences to not giving the nomination to Obama.

Well, I have a couple responses to all of that. First, I’d like to see Ayers and Dohrn put in jail for parking tickets. tax evasion, being-criminally-stupid, inciting violence, what- have- you. Next I’d like to see Rachel Maddow fired and put out on the street where she belongs. Perhaps she’d like a pitchfork. I doubt she’d have any idea what to do with it. And in fact, since I’d like to see it stuck in her rear end, she might have some difficulty utilizing it to whatever purpose she would desire. Next I would like to point out that I believe in ‘68 the Chicago Police at the behest of Mayor Daley beat the ever-loving be-jesus out of the kiddies. If these tools are so intent on a replay of ‘68 they better hope their parents have them covered on their health insurance (if not life insurance) policies. Next I would like to point out that this whole thing looks so ridiculous and so stupid that I would guess about 14 people would show up to “put into action” this brilliant and diabolic plan. I assume the 14 would leave the moment anyone said “boo” to them. Next I would like all the superdelegates to read about how Barry has decided he will take his cry-baby whining to the next level. I am completely disgusted with this jack ass and his
neo-fascist latte sucking followers. But if they want to go play radical then I wish the police the best of times….

    Good catch!

Obama has been conspicuously absent from the public discourse over the past days - declined KO on MSNBC, Larry King on CNN, shot down the NC debate…

Appears he has graduated to the next stage of a cult leader - no dialogue, when he needs to speak, he’ll address his base directly… the rest can be ignored and intimidated.

well, i say that if the blacks are going to riot because obama is going to lose, let them. they have been itching to do it for a long time. i predicted a race, class, age and gender war last year when i started to pay attention to all of this obama crap. its an attempt to overthrow our government, but it wont happen. i am sick and tired of these threats by the blacks. obama is not the one…….he screwed himself with his “freindships” with nasty people. its not whiteys fault. and i agree with putting that pitchfork in rachael maddows butt too ! and while we are at that, i would like to put that pitchfork in dick morris’s ass too.

  7. waltcon 21 Apr 2008 at 9:12 pm 7

Boy was I wrong, I thought the threat of violence by the Obamanuts was just that - a threat and nothing more.

These people are dead serious, they smell their chance at gaining power and getting some payback.

If only 1% of the membership of these groups show up it will amount to perhaps 50-100,000 potential rioters.

The thing they don’t get is that the police and Army units will not tolerate rioting, they learned their lessons what to do after the Seattle riots. They will crack heads by the gross and shoot to kill if needed.

In the end though, those yuppies, code pink broads, AA nutters and college snot jobs will be no match for the Police and Army.

But the rioters will accomplish one thing with their violence - that is set back the Democratic party by decades and driving millions away in disgust. Rove couldn’t ask for a better gift.

I’ve posted this in various places but a point: the Weathermen destroyed the peace and antiwar movement. Before they started their bombing and killing, the US was swinging liberal, loosening up, saying “hey, maybe the kids are right.” After they started and the Chicago riots occurred, the country lurched Right into oppression and its gotten worse over the years. If this happens, the country will swing so far right we’ll be lucky to have any civil rights left. And yeah, everyone is also right, about the middle class (they’re not all whitey by the way) reaction to all this– heads will crack for sure. Even a few thousand rioters are gonna accomplish nothing more than being rendered to some interesting place.

    Jeff,

I did a long piece on this one and the next one at Classical Values and Power and Control.

Hope it drives some traffic your way.

If this happens it will be Obama’s fault. This is the kind of political dirty tricks that Chicago is infamous for. I would think people in Denver are smarter than this and won’t be misled. But there are flakes everywhere, and if there aren’t enough in Denver Obama can always bus some in.

    What a pathetic candidate.

“Even a few thousand rioters are gonna accomplish nothing more than being rendered to some interesting place.”

I wonder if Ayatollah Wright and the Anointed One will visit them while they are in the concentration camp?

Obama will bus thugs in from IL and have them waiting if the superdelegates overturn his nomination. Well trained thugs. The gangs in Chitown must love him since he weakened the death penalty against gang violence.

My sister was living near LA at the time. I remember how scared they were. I know my brother-in law was locked and loaded. The rioting stopped just short of their neighborhood. After that they did everything they could to get out of the LA area and now live OK. The same state with that idiot governor throwing over the will of the people and supporting Obama.

“We are predominantly a youthful group …We intend to recreate that revolutionary feeling and pick-up where our predecessors left off”

I don’t mean to downplay the seriousness of this group, and the threats of others, but reading that description above makes me see how utterly juvenile they seem. It just screams “I’m an 18 year old living in my Mom’s apartment and going to community college is a predominantly white and upper middle class suburb”

If these lost souls want to help the plight of racism, I can think of 1,000 better ways to do it than incite violence. Every time this shit goes down, it sets racial unity back another 100 years.

I’m just not quite sure what they’re talking about, actually. They want to fight racism in the DNC, but they say they’re not supporting either candidate. Where is the racism?

Where were these little pissants when Al Sharpton ran for President? How about Alan Keyes? Jesse Jackson? Where were they? Why didn’t they take to the streets for them?

Obama is a cult. He’s been propelled by the facebook/youtube phenom.

Recreate68 was put up by a Dittohead as part of Rush’s Operation Chaos. Unfortunately, although the idea was a great one, they copied things Rush has said on air almost verbatim. It gives it away. A shame - it really could have been done a little better and more subtly, I think.
