Obama, “Affirmative” Racism, and Reparations

Posted at 12:31 am under Uncategorized

Here’s my two cents on Bozo, and Affirmative Action:

  • He’s committed to perpetuating Racial discrimination, with one significant change - MoF0 will expand the “Victim” category to include low-income, largely Southern, Whites.

As for Reparations:

  • Hussein-0 is going to allow/privately encourage supporters to build a few museums and memorials to Maafa, and legitimize a broader discussion of a Reparations shake-down.

Ultimately, Boozler may introduce special spending programs addressing chronic problems in the African-American community which amount to “Reparations.” He has already declared tighter-hate laws, and civil rights liberties will suffer. Reconciliation will come at the price of Sanctifying Black America’s Victim Status.

All Mof0 is about, is Victims. The more the merrier. Black Theology calls for Victim unity, regardless of color, as long as the leader of Victims United, is Black. What better way of expanding the Black Theology Victim base, and lessening the Resentment against Whites and Asians, than by designating a special category for “low-income” within Affirmative Action Racism?

Ostensibly, this will blunt the edge of Resentment, and make poor Whites, and non-existent poor Asians, feel as special as Blacks. How it will work in practice, He has yet to speak. But the Messiah’s commitment to Affirmative Action, leaves no room for doubt. Folks, Hussein’s campaign has made Countless unequivocal statements on this.

What does an “expanded” Affirmative Racism mean for America? Let’s just hope our competitors from China, India, Japan, Brazil, and Germany, all adapt equally debilitating policies. That way when our companies are staffed by ignorant fools, whose only reason for being where they are at, can be attributed to Discrimination, we don’t have to fear that our competitors competence and expertise, is going to make us obsolete.

Forty years of Legal Reverse Racism has already crippled our country’s Academia and Intellectual Elite. A quick look at our insultingly stupid “Minority” departments on the nations top campuses, and the diarrhea they produce in theses, academic publicans, and books with which they pollute the public space, reveals a reduction of the “rational” and “honest” to “imaginative” and “fake”.

A tour of the Journalist industry, with its ability to sell hair-brained relations between Al-Qaeda and Iraq, and then to pimp America its HOsamas, not to mention Rodney King, OJ, Imus, Jenna, and every other contrived Racial Mediocrity, reveals what standards have come to.

Does Affirmative Racism have something do with it?

Anytime a society corrupts truth in the name of Ideals, a society digs its grave. By subjecting reality to wishful thinking, it de facto passes a law, making reality illegal. Where one ounce of non-fiction- in order to become public- must be preceded by tons of fiction, the intellect, and the pursuit of truth, have no room to breathe. Affirmative Action, along with a host of other illusions, has contributed to the fall of American Democracy, in more ways than George Bush and Herbert Hoover combined.

This may comes as news to some readers, especially coming from a “Black” man - if there is one stigma I resent in my working life, its that originating from Affirmative Action. I fail to see the opportunity and benefit this form of Legalized Racism has bestowed upon me. Far from any profit, I feel oppressed by the need to deal with the stereotype and assumption, others make about my professional abilities.

While no one has expressed it to me directly, all too often I’ve been given the treatment that it may be my color that got me where I am at, more so than my talent and skills. Now I don’t blame the Indians and Chinese and Germans who work alongside me, who I suspect to hold such views, I blame the Racists who I know that they hold such views!

The Racists that assume that just cuz I am Black I need an extra step. The Racists that believe that no amount of help, other than quotas and lowered standards are gonna get me where others are at. The Racists that claim, that because of Past Injustices, no matter how real or imagined, I am bound to being a failure, if not for special laws that Discriminate in my favor. The Racists who hate everything that is successful and meritocratic, because it is not Black, and ultimately have no problem calling it Fascist and Nazi, because it is the wrong culture or color.

Now if Mr. Hussein decides that he can ease my sense of anxiety about myself, by extending Affirmative Racism to poor Whites, I doubt that will assuage my worries. Will those who suspect I am the result not of my own talent, suddenly assume otherwise? Will those who attribute my income and education to my skin-color, suddenly change their mind?

So now, with Obama, we are gonna get a new victim class!? The Appalachian Hick! Whose fault is he?! Who is to Blame for HillBilly, for Okey!?

Is it gonna be big fat daddy Capitalist?! Is it gonna be the Jewish money-lender!? The conniving Asian liquor store salesmen? The decrepit homosexual Hollywood mogul?! The elitist New England Yank?! Who’s it gonna be with the bitter gun-clinging incestuous Creationist?! It sure wont be the Hick himself, will it? It wont be his propensity to drink, to abuse, to swear, and to look down upon anything “intellectual” or “Union made”.

If Hussein wants to expand the Victim category to the perpetually angry about the Civil War, Confederate Flag waving Evangelical base which is waiting to the second coming, because by their decrepit culture they are on par with Black America, so be it. Even by my account, they belong in the same culturally handicapped category, as the rest of us losers- preordained by our gender, skin color, or by who we fuck, to be the perpetual Victim in America.

Again, I just hope the rest of the world follows suit, that way we can finally drop the pretense that talent, merit, and effort, matter in anyone’s life. While we are at it, lets outlaw right and wrong, and make the stupid and smart conceptually equal. After all, if succeeding in life doesn’t rely on persistently doing the right thing, but only on being born right by virtue of your “Victim” status, then what need have we for cultures and ways of doing things, which produce results, vs. ways and cultures of doings things, which don’t? What need have we to distinguish the effect of polygamy and tribalism on such results, if we are told that their impact and effect on results is legally defined as equal to that of monogamy and individualism?

Affirmative Action, has not only made it impossible for Black to prove to non-Blacks that “our” people are capable of the same achievements as everyone else, and I mean IMPOSSIBLE, it has created an environment in which primitive Black habits and manners of low-class Black culture, were put on equal footing as that of Middle Class America. This made it undesirable and useless, to try to advance ourselves culturally, and hence economically. If being low-class meant being our “true” selves, what need have we of becoming middle or upper class, if it meant lying to ourselves?!

Or should I be even more honest? Affirmative Action is the biggest reason for the impunity of Hip Hop, of the Black attitude, and for the unceasing harassment of America, by Black inventions of Injustice. For more than 40 years, the reason for Black failure in America lies not with Racism in the old sense, but Racism in the form of Affirmative Action, which assumes that unlike immigrants from Mexico and China and Russia, Blacks can’t possibly create a sizable middle class, without first destroying the very notion of culture and merit. This new Racism, has let the worst cancers of low-class Black culture perpetrate its myriad crimes on the Black community, not to mention dragging down the entire US economy.

I don’t need to be put on par with Scots-Irish southerns, to have my State induced feelings of “inferiority” assuaged- I want my freedom from a government imposed insignia removed!

Then of course, there is the issue of more Victimology. More Victims, Victims, Victims. Pretty soon, any success will be punished, as it inevitably leads to losers, who becoming the proverbial Victims, will demand Reparations for others success. Speaking of Reparations.

***

Surprising as some readers may be, I am for Reparations. My crusade in the Black community, is against Black Culture. If Reparations are used to elevate Blacks from this Culture, I am all for them.

Now Hussein has never come out against Reparations. What he has said, on two occasions, is that the Government cannot simply write a Blank Check. Trouble is, Bozo’s years of associations with Posers who demand Reparations in the form of Rewritten History Books, Maafa Monuments and Museums, and Patronage. They won’t need a check for any of this, just their Godfather sitting in the White House. By virtue of his intimate ties with such cranks, Hussein0 is their Man.

I am for Reparations. Anything that bans Hip-Hop and Jeremiah Wright. Nii Afotey Oblum II believes that all of Black America’s evils stem from Slavery, and Racism. If I were to agree with such a preposterous claim for even one second, then I’d quickly have to conclude that Jeremiah Wright, aka Nii Afotey Oblum II, is the first thing Reparations will Eliminate. He is precisely what’s wrong with Black America, and if Reparations are meant to mollify Black Social wrongs, then he’ll be the first mollification.

Second, will come Black Culture, its emphasis on being a Victim, on Racism, and on Slavery. This will contradict directly any plans Bozo’s fans have, of erecting Maafa monuments and introducing the word “Maafa” into the American vernacular. Black Culture as it stands, perpetuates Black irresponsibility, inferiority, failure and violence, by depriving Blacks of taking responsibility for any of it. Little wonder as Juanita reports from Chaves’ article, that a good half of the Black American population, thinks drugs and guns are run by the Feds into our communities. It’s as if the one pulling the trigger, wasn’t the drug pimping street thug, but the Korean liquor store owner across the street! Its as if the failure of Black children to graduate from High-School wasn’t the fault battered, lazy, and overdosed parents, but the Coco grower in Peru, the hard-working Mexican in the local McDonald’s, or the next-door pookie selling you the end product. Naah, aint our working. We can’t say no. Too stupid for that!

Now if Reparations can cure this “Victim” disease, which relies on the existence of the “Black Race” and “community” as defined by its Holy Experience of Slavery and Racism, then I am all for them. If it means that becoming Middle Class and wearing my pants above my knees vs. bellow them, is now Ok, and no longer means selling out and becoming “White” then I am all for them. If Reparations means that Low Class Black culture of Ebonics and Fake Wisdom are finally replaced with EuroAsiatic respect for the Rational and Analytical, then I am all for them.

If Reparations mean that we no longer have to elect a man who pretends he is entirely Black because he has one Black parent, in order to outlaw Stupidity and Irresponsibility under the guise of “minority” culture, then all of America needs to pray for such Reparations.

Now how is Bozo the Clown gonna pull off such Reparations? He can’t. He is being elected as a patron saint of the Black America which rejected anything civilizing as “White” and preferred a parasitically Negro leadership which boosted our self-esteem by pandering to our ethnocentrism and Racism to anything encouraging our acceptance of such “White” culture. Bozo aint got the intellectual tools, to resolve such complicated issues, and the only Reparations on his mind, are those which finance the study the negative impact of Slavery on Black American life, and quantify just how much Racism has kept us acting like the street savages that occasionally confused tourists to Compton and Watts encounter.

The kind of Reparations Bozo’s got in mind, are those which think that Slavery was akin to the Jewish Holocaust, and being a through plagiarist steal all the Holocaust’s symbols, icons, and narratives, to create that special sense of Victimhood we are after.

Hence, the word “Maafa” whose introductory web page speaks of the African-American Holocaust. Hence the inexplicable talk of genocide, and “half a millennium” or rape and pillaging.

No mention of medicine, no mention of literacy, no mention of technology, no mention of anything, for which the opposite of reparations, should be paid.

The poverty of this Black attempt to imitate the Jews, is as apparent as it is demeaning. That America, especially Liberal America, can even take the suggestion of monuments and commemorations seriously, is morally corrupt.

***

Now here is a brief history lesson for ya’all ignorant liberals mofo’s whose comments I have to occasionally delete from this blog since you either call me a “fake nigger” or just a sell-out. I want you to get something straight once and for all.

Before the White Man, Black African culture was as primitive as it could get. It has largely reverted to this stage. Short of Papua New Guinea, and the Aborigines in Australia, the Asshanti and Zulu were savages- and have remained such.

Now that don’t mean Whites were legitimate in enslaving us, but open your history books please, before you divide the world into Black and White.

“White” Slavery was relatively short lived. It lasted for no more than 200 years in the case of the Slave Trade. It began in 1650s, and was outlawed first by Denmark, in 1803, then by the British, and French, and by 1860, by everyone else. For those hooked on Ethnomathematics, let me explain- that’s 200 years, maximum.

Now the scale of this trade, was awesome in its intensity. 1,5 million by the British, 1,3 million by the French, 1,5 million by the Portuguese, and a million by the Dutch. The Spanish did relatively little, as did everyone else from Western Europe. Anywhere from 8 to 10 million slaves were brought over the Atlantic by the time the trade was made entirely illegal. The illegality of first the slave trade, and later of slavery, was a historically unprecedented, and not even very well justified, event of enormous proportions. Just how odd and unjustified it was, is evidenced by the continuation of Slavery in India, and South-East Asia, and all of Sub-Saharan Africa. While the British attempted to stamp out Slavery in India and the Arab World, in India it resurfaced, and in the Arab world continued well into the 1960s - while surviving in the “indentured labor” form in South Arabia till this day. Overall, we’ve got 27 million slaves in the world as we speak. That’s 2.7 times more, than the 200 years Western Europeans traded Slaves across the Atlantic.

Now nothing justifies the trade of African Slaves across the Atlantic, and no apology will do. First, who should apologize to who? Most Whites had no say in the Slave Trade, as it was done by a few corporations run by the wealthy and privileged. Suffrage was not universal, and something akin to feudalism still held sway in all countries of the Slave Trade, until the French Revolution, which brought an immediate end to Slavery.

But without even getting into the facts that sons cannot be made to apologize for the sins of their fathers, lets stick to the subject of trading slaves. Now while the Portuguese and Dutch sold slaves to the Caribbean and Brazil and Florida, their North African Ottoman and Arab friends were busy kidnapping Spanish, Italian, and French people, off of Mediterranean ships, and selling them into the same slavery, that other Ottoman subjects were kidnapping and selling into slavery in East Africa. These same subjects, were conveying Sub-Saharan African slaves to Middle Eastern and Indian markets, for nearly a millennia, to the ultimate toon of 10 to 15 million, in what is called the East African Slave Trade, although its product largely derived West of the Sudan.

Now Louis Farrakhan no doubt denies the very fact of the Muslim slave trade, which continues since the time of Mohammed, unabated into the present, and for which no Muslim has ever apologized, nor ever will. While the Europeans traded for 200 years, and then stood up to the institution of Slavery, the Muslims, still deny their very own participation. This would be an important fact, if not for the even more important one, that outside of Western Europe, there is not one civilization, people, or nation, which has ever outlawed slavery in the same way as the “White” man. If Muslims want to deny this, they are merely doing what everyone else, except the American, English, and French, do- pretend they were ahead of the curve, when in fact, they were behind it for millennia.

If one is to build monuments to Slavery in America, then it is to the phenomenal and inexplicable event of its banning and abolition in the Western World, and eventually America, and not its exceptional brutality.

Yes, it was a brutal enterprise, but no where near as brutal as the Real Holocaust, of 11 million executed inmates of the Nazi concentration and work camps. Or the 10 million slaves of Stalinist Russia that were worked to death in sub-freezing Siberian temperatures, or the 30 million Chinese killed in a Civil War between Mao and Chang-Kai-Shek. Nor for the matter, even the 800,000 Tutsi’s brutally massacred by machete wielding Hutsis.

For all of Alex Haley’s Roots, the reality of the Slave Trade reveals no genocides, no premeditated extermination, and no zirconium gas. It reveals a brutal labor system, which treated a part of the human population as sub-human. Contrary to what the Wright’s of this world pander to those ignorant of history, until universal suffrage made its way under the banner of Napoleon Bonaparte, most of Humanity, irrespective of its color, found itself in the same situation - less than human. For all of the cries of “atrocity” and “unforgivable” issuing from the Sharptons and Jacksons, Black Slavery’s history was little different from Slavery in Sub-Saharan Africa.

By the time Europeans banned Slavery in the early 19th Century, most of West Africa didn’t care. The economy of this region had bloomed as a result of the slave-trade, and there had been a greater demand for slaves internally, than externally. As had always been the case, Slavery was an institution on which the West African Economy relied, and this had nothing to do with either the Portuguese or French. Only the experience of French and British Conquest of West Africa, beginning in the mid 19th century, posed a serious challenge to Slavery as an African domestic institution.

This colonialism, while often times Racially brutal in its treatment of the locals, expressly forbade their enslavement. The same can not be said of Ottoman controlled and Arab dominated of North and East Africa, who for good measure, castrated the Black male slave, to make sure these “Abds” did not reproduce.

Why this review of History?

Basically, let’s cut the crap about the uniqueness of Black Slavery in America. Sure, it was brutal and awful. But it was slavery, not a Holocaust. It was demeaning and wrong, it was not genocide and extermination. More Tutsi’s were murdered as a result of Black Racism against the Hutsis, than as a result of White Racism against Blacks in America. One story of a lynching in Texas, does nothing for those hacked to death by a Tutsi machete. To speak of atrocities is dishonest. It is to confuse fact from fiction. While no doubt many African’s died on the journey to the Western Hemisphere, as a result of inhumane treatment, such death is no more unique than the death stemming from mass starvation, still common through much of the world, including Eastern and Southern Europe, even into the beginning of the 20th century (Soviet Russia, 5 million Ukrainians artificially starved to death)

The people who brought out ancestors to this country - by force- also passed the first Human Rights laws. This cannot be claimed by anyone else on earth, who while trading slaves for millennia, still can’t pass laws to defend women’s rights, let alone admit the sins of their past.

The people who practiced Slavery for a 150 years before deciding to fight against it, and in 50 years did what no other tribe of humans ever even entertained, banned Slavery as a social institution- deserve thanks, not scorn. I say this no matter how brutal the journey on a ship may have been, no matter how hard the work in a plantation, and no matter how nasty the Racial hatred. Because to call this a “Holocaust,” is to trivialize the reality of those 11 million Nazi victims, whose sole purpose in life, was to burn in a gas oven.

A good number of the Jews who could not apply at Harvard well into the fifties, immigrated into the US after losing their relatives in Europe of the forties, and became middle class by the sixties. Thousands of the Chinese who came to America as Coolies, escaping the even worst poverty of lives in China proper, eventually made it in this country, without even registering a protest. Sicilians and Russians, made it to America from feudal societies in the late 19th century, were considered inferior to “Whites” while not even being granted Caucasian status until 1912, slaved away in the inhuman conditions of Great Lakes factories, and eventually made it. Of course, supposedly these groups did not have to deal with Jim Crow. That Jim Crow affected twice as many Southern Whites, than Southern Blacks, is lost on students of American history- except- I suppose, Barack Hussein Obama. He’s the only one suggesting, including these Southern Whites, in his expanded Affirmative Action program. Which brings me back to the gist of my post-

Its time to get over justifying Affirmative Actions and talk of Reparations with rhapsodies on the uniqueness of Black Slavery in America. The only thing unique about Black America, is its ability to make excuses and whine. If Reparations are a way of shutting this system of Whining down, then so be it.

Okay, Jamal, seems like a good thing you got that off your chest.
As a black woman, I disagree with you.
If anything, I would keep Affirmative Action in place and forget the reparations crap.
Affirmative Action, like alimony, is not perfect.
But it’s the best way we have to address flaws in imperfect systems.
When inner-city scholl systems are judged on a lesser scale by college administrators, how would you level the playing field?
An all A public school student is not considered equal to a private school or even suburban school student when it comes to admissions to college, should that student be so punished?
Unless and until educational opportunities for all students are standardized, throwing Affirmative action away because of a percieved stigma seems like misplaced vanity and not sound reasoning.
Reparations on the other hand are impossible to quantify.
Do ancestors of slaves killed by lynching or beating get more than ancestors of those who served their “masters” until the end of their natural lives?
    Does the “one-drop rule” apply?
Is there a sliding scale for field hands as opposed to house servants?
    What about “free blacks?”
Are we just talking about slaves who were freed by the Civil War or those who escaped or were otherwise released from bondage?
How would reparations instill enough pride and sense of self-worth to eliminate pimp-culture?
Maybe I’m misunderstanding you, but I’d love to debate and explore this topic further at a later time.

Hussein obama is of course trying to pander to those appalachian whites who overwhelmingly voted for Hillary and are likely to vote for McCain. Everything he does is political calculation. He has no real principles at all.

    @josgirlon
    My pleasure.

If Affirmative Action were an affirmation of the results of what a Wright + a Black/White “liberal” can do to our Black youth - by pandering victimhood and nihilism, then I guess on the same grounds I’d be for Reparations which eliminate the nefarious effect of such demagogues, I’d have to support programs that treat their victims.

But it would be an Affirmative Action of a whole different kind. Rather than pandering to Victimhood, its primer goal would be to lobotomize the Victim demagogy. I.e. turn young blacks from victims to self-empowered American Individuals, out here to fit in and assimiliate. An Affirmative Actionw which takes the victims of Rap, and turns them against Rap. An Affirmative Action which takes the young Black man poisoned by the idea that he cannot be held responsible for his decisions and performance, and only Whitey and the System can, and makes him a Man, neither black nor white, but a simple man, who needs neitehr Whitey nor the system, to explain either his success or error.

What that means, is instead of cutting into merit, let’s set aside quotas for Victims of the Wrights, at all of our top universities, as a form of mental treatment, as a clinic of the Ideologically Brainwashed- and expose them to treatment, whose objective is to make these Victims into the Equals of everyone else.

What that means, is that instead of lowering standards for us, invest more in us, since we’ve been screwed by the Negro leaders, and help us catch up and match everyone, by the time we is out of Princeton!

Now as for inner city vs suburb vs Hotchskis Private Elite Schools. I am sorry, but Chinese folks show us, just how little inner/vs suburb means. Some of this coutnry’s top schools are “inner city” schools, either in New York or San Francisco, where Jews and Chinese excelled way beyond any suburban standards. And they were treated as such by college admissions boards.

Take Wright, for example. He went to a Chicago city magnet school. 70% Jewish? He was top of his class, did great- singing Verdi and Puccini, and playing the trumpet. There is a reason he was operating in the Marines on LBJ. Now take his ideology- Victim, Demagogue, Bigot. You better bet Affirmative Racism has had something to do with it.

Take Michelle’s Bama-Robinson. What kind of witch does it take to go to another Chicago magnet school, with dady getting good bucks as an engineer and playing big politics in Daley Chicago, and mommy sitting at home with daughter and brother doing homework after school for four hours straight- and then come out and write on Stokey Karmichael? Or was it Nkrumah II?

Reading Robinson’s thesis from Princeton, you appreciate what kind of standards Affirmative Racism promulgates. Read Juanita’s biting review of it, somewhere in our archives.

Jeremiah Wright did not go to Chicago public schools.
    I did.
It would be amazing if Michelle Obama had gotten into Princeton WITHOUT Affirmative Action.
Wright went to high school in “Germantown,” Pa.
Wikipedia says it was 90% white at the time.
That is a far cry from the realities of inner-city education in Chicago as I know it.
That anyone makes it out of those factories of institutionalization and regimentation with more than a prison mentality is almost impossible to believe.
Innocent children are held hostage by a dumbed-down, underfunded, unimaginitive, unsympsthetic system, taught and administered by barely qualified, uncaring, underpaid, rejects from better school systems.
    They are victims.
My kids went to integrated suburban schools.
There is a difference, though it’s not as stark as the difference between the public and private schools I couldn’t afford.
Claiming Affirmative Action is outdated is a disingenuous as electing a token president is dangerous.
Both are examples of serious problems still to be addressed in our society masquerading as hip, cure-all solutions.

While I agree on most points, I disagree on others. My daughter was the grateful recipiant of a full scholorship to the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor at a time when the white people who did not get in were suing the school for reverse discrimination. My dughter went to public school and was not in the top 10% of her class BUT she had 31.5 credits when she graduated and her GPA was 3.6. The school average was a 4. I guess that I should say, we lived in a mostly white area of the county and were lucky to have found a home in the district. This was the plan was so she could get a better education but the work done was HERS alone.
She did volunteer work at the water treatment plant to teach grade schoolers about bacteria while rich kids went to India to develop new water sources. Because of U of M’s Affirmative Action Program, my intelligent child was given the chance we could not afford. She received a Masters last month from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. While she has worked HARD, she was given a chance because of some schools belief that money and social standing do not necessarily make the BEST candidates for their schools culture!
Thank you Jamal for your insight! and Thank you University of Michigan and University of Hawaii!!!

J-Your historical and critical analysis is dead on–Affirmative Action, reparations are very pathetic answers to the runaway train of social and racial politics in this country. The bottom line for me and for so many who come to this site to read the truth about this fraud is that contrary to what the facist media proclaims day after day–we will never vote for BO–their ‘polls’ state that Clinton supporters will cave in November, that Roe v Wade will be the deciding factor. The only sure thing in this election is that Obama’s people will use the same dirty tactics they used to get him the State Senate and the US Senate-eliminate the competition by any means necessary. This is the only way for him to get anything–take it, because he’s got no credentials, no substance, no record, no humanity–nothing.

  14. waltcon 17 Jun 2008 at 8:48 pm 14

When you need to put in metal detectors and station police in inner city public schools or even suburban schools with a large minority populations - it points to a culture and community problem.

No amount of money or slamming qualified teachers and staff for avoiding these hellholes will correct that.

For starters the communities in question need to decide that gangsta culture needs to be trashed and the notion that succeeding in school isn’t selling out to the white man. And that learning is a good thing and empowering.

  15. josgirlon 17 Jun 2008 at 9:48 pm 15

waltc, so changing the students will make the schools better?
Which came first lousy schools or metal detectors in lousy schools?
    Talk about blaming the victim.
I am not an Obama supporter, I think the current gangster culture is horrible and have no patience with people who blame all their problems on racism.
But inner city kids did not create their enviornment out of whole cloth.
Gangta culture owes as much to Scarface and Cagney as it does to Snoop Dogg.
There are real problems in our society that need addressing and putting the onus on the students does nothing constructive for them or anybody else.

Jamal Bravo brother. Cheers for having the guts to tell the truth. I applaud your courage and the historical accuracy of your article which appeals to fact/ logic and not silly emotion blanketed with fictional facts and figures.

    Keep up the good work.

This is pure speculation and attacks Obama for not weighing in on reparations (thus he must be for them if he says nothing! bah.) Might I remind people that there are more weighty things to be concerned about? We are in two wars, our economy is in the dumpster, non-proliferation issues, a health care crisis, and our infrastructure is in bad need of updating…oh, yeah…global warming!
Please feel free to talk about REAL ISSUES using facts. I know it is a novel idea, but try it — you may like it.

    @Marin Maven
Hi, forgive my english i’m from abroad

“Might I remind people that there are more weighty things to be concerned about?”
I’m afraid I disagree with you. It seems you’re pretty new on this web site (am I wrong?), so why not taking a look at the “content ” page below the header image. It seems to me that it is always valuable to understand somebody’s opinion before and in order to fight them eventually.
May I recommend you some articles?

Personnally, I think the problem in France and in Europe is the victimized, hateful, anti-occident muslim minorities and the self-hate among whites that goes together… If Europe (at least) face one big political and ideological threat in the future, it’s this one. Should I remind you that apart from the occidental world in general, no one will stand up for human rights in this world. Just look at the incredible hypocrisy of the arab world. Do you think they really care for discrimination, racism, colonialism, even slavery? Just look at what happens there with the black migrants workers. You know how they call blacks between themselves? Abd (extremely pejorativ term meaning slave)… It doesn’t prevent them all the time from crying against racism and playing the victim or the race card. Why do I bother you with arabs? It’s the same victim mentality, the same hatred for the west and what it represents, its culture, its values… (Obama on His Racial Awareness (5) His “Homeland” - http://www.stop-obama.org/?p=311)
and it just breed more violence, more hatred. This is a worldwide phenomenon and I tell you, if it doesn’t stop, we’re going to have ethnic conflicts in Europe again. For me, the election of a West/american hating candidate is a very very bad sign and I don’t want any precedent as an example for the rest of the western world. A bon entendeur salut

    Milou:
I am not unaware of religious and racial strife in Europe, Middle East, and around the world. A lot of this has to do with the dwindling resources around the world due to globalization and the effects of global warming (lack of food, water, increased disease, immigration, etc). It is well recognized that in times of scarcity, old tribal conflicts based on race, religion, heritage, or political differences break out. At the heart of all conflict is land, resources, water, jobs, economic opportunity.
You also have a lot of problems when you have unemployed, disaffected males between 18-24 running around — that is universal.

You also have people who play upon the sense of powerlessness in countries that are politically or culturally oppressive to join something that will be bigger than themselves when in reality they are just common hoods with weapons. That is why I object to the whole “war on terror” which unintentionally elevates these criminals to soldier status. Terrorists are not worthy to be compared to soldiers.

There are a lot of hatred based on our reckless foreign policy. The Bush administration did everything Al Queda wanted us to do in reinforcing what they were saying about us in their recruiting. We went after Iraq when it was Egyptians and Saudis who crashed into the Twin Towers and the Pentagon. We went into the middle east with all bluster and no brains. Every step made in these past 8 years led to disaster. I have watched all my life foreign policy disasters as well as successes. The successes were when we got sworn enemies to sit down and talk like in Northern Ireland where the religious hatred was heated and real where children were dodging bombs on their walk to school on the border of Protestant/Catholic areas.

The characterization of Obama as a west hating/american hating person is very overstated. Nothing in his words or actions have given any indication that he harbors the hatred that he may have been surrounded by. In fact, the US Senate and republican Senator Lugar trusted him enough to tackle sensitive legislation regarding non-proliferation of nuclear weapons. He was trusted by the US Senate and conservative republican, Coburn to work with him to make our government more transparent. Are you going to trust people who know and have worked with him, or people who never met him and seem not to want to really get to know him?

African-Americans and people of color get victimized. A Sikh got shot right after 9/11 because many Americans have no idea about religions other than their own. It is impossible for some Americans to look past the fear and see people for their humanity and they are easy prey for appeals on fear. This is why so many of our civil liberties were squandered and people allowed these horrible wars.

Whatever America has done in foreign and domestic policy has not worked. I am willing to try a different approach to our foreign policy that is based on smart diplomacy instead of breast beating and appeals to fear. The way the republican party and even Clinton suggested as a way to go forward didn’t convince me that it would work.

All I have to base my decisions is what the republican party and Clinton has been able to deliver.

Everyone on Earth knows we have the strongest, most professional, and advanced military in the world yet we have yet to achieve any of what we set out to do or accomplish our safety as intelligence source say we are now in more danger.
So, a reasonable person can confidently deduce that a new direction is needed. That is why I support Obama.

My opponents here would like to characterize me as a starry-eyed cult follower, but I am actually a tough customer. I actually look at the claims and dissect them. I knew in 2000 that Bush wasn’t what he said he was. I knew that they wouldn’t find WMDs in Iraq, because I knew who they were relying on for intelligence — Chelabi who had ulterior motives for getting us involved in a war in Iraq none of them has our interests in mind. I predicted that we would not be prepared for an occupation of Iraq. I am pretty good in sniffing out the real thing from false. I knew Clinton made a serious judgment error by authorizing the war instead of standing with 21 of her fellow senators.

No country, race, religion holds the monopoly on hypocrisy since all humanity is capable of it. I believe humans are complicated creatures and are capable of a wide variety of actions, motivations, and beliefs.

I am adopted and between other adopted persons we call each other Bastards, since that is our political badge hoisted upon us since we were born out of wedlock. It is not unheard of when groups who are disenfranchised or experience prejudice that they take on a pejorative to own it and render it powerless over them.

Btw, Milou your English was impressive.

The majority of Senate Democrats voted for the Iraq War Resolution.
HRC’s dissension would not have affected the outcome.
A few facts once in a while might be in order.

WASHINGTON (CNN) — In a major victory for the White House, the Senate early Friday voted 77-23 to authorize President Bush to attack Iraq if Saddam Hussein refuses to give up weapons of mass destruction as required by U.N. resolutions.
The Senate vote sharply divided Democrats, with 29 voting for the measure and 21 against. All Republicans except Sen. Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island voted for passage.
The resolution requires Bush to declare to Congress either before or within 48 hours after beginning military action that diplomatic efforts to enforce the U.N. resolutions have failed.
Bush also must certify that action against Iraq would not hinder efforts to pursue the al Qaeda terrorist network that attacked New York and Washington last year. And it requires the administration to report to Congress on the progress of any war with Iraq every 60 days.”

“…A vote for it is not a vote to rush to war; it is a vote that puts awesome responsibility in the hands of our President and we say to him - use these powers wisely and as a last resort. And it is a vote that says clearly to Saddam Hussein - this is your last chance - disarm or be disarmed.” – Hillary Rodham Clinton

The thing is those 23 people were right. Many of them read the intelligence reports and said it was wrong. Hillary Clinton only read the summary of those reports before she voted which was unfortunate. I believe such a vote required more due diligence on her part. Then she refused to admit she made a mistake and that to me is a flaw. Bush has that flaw. I am tired of that flaw.
Everyone who was paying attention knew Bush had no intention of letting the weapons inception to succeed. Bush, his administration, and the republican party have a long disdain and hostility toward the UN, so concern about backing up UN resolutions rang hollow.
The resolution had no way for Congress to enforce the resolution if the president decided not to follow the requirements, it was basically giving him a blank check and people warned congress of this. Except for the 23 brave people, the Senate lacked courage and due diligence.

  22. josgirlon 18 Jun 2008 at 6:27 pm 22

    Hindsight is 20-20 vision.
Being a senator from NY, I wonder what her constituents were telling her at the time about their feelings regarding the war resolution.
“Everybody knew” is bs, if “everybody knew” no one would have voted for it.
It’s easy to sit here now and second-guess everybody who voted as they did, but at least she didn’t duck the question and gave clear, concise reasons for her actions.
Unlike some people, who with the luxury of being uninvolved at the time, can sit back and point fingers, but who now can do something, yet have done nothing, to change the situation, at least HRC is capable of making a difficult decision and standing by it.

I don’t even understand reparation talk. It denies the evolution of thought, doesn’t it? How do proponents of reparation rationalize that today’s belief system should have been the same during the 1500’s through the 1800’s? No one can reasonably do that. How rational is it to retro actively punish centuries of people for their thought process not being at the 21st century? Bizarre!

I think affirmative action at the university level is flawed and has become useless. Universities stopped using affirmative action (if they ever did) as a way to give children from underfunded school districts a chance for a good education. Instead universities used it to cosmetically enhance their campuses to appeal to white students looking for “diversity”. Affirmative action in the workplace is still necessary. There are employers who consciously use discriminatory hiring practices but there are far more who unconsciously discriminate when they hire. Affirmative action in the workplace and a person’s qualifications to do a job have nothing to do with one another. It’s very different then affirmative action in the schools.
