Obama on Gasoline Prices- Zer0
Turd0 could care less if you get gouged at the pump. Not one statement about speculators, not one promise of lowered prices. For someone who proudly boasted of his hundred billion dollar Manhattan Project for Energy, Turd0 is awfully quiet on the basics. Here are a few pointers about Hussein0 and gasoline,
1) So far, he’s shown absolutely no concern for gasoline prices.
2) no statement on offshore drilling or ANWR
3) nothing about nuclear energy
4) vilified Clinton for suggesting tax-holiday, does same with McCain
5) voted for pork-barrel energy bill in 2005, unlike McCain and Clinton
Here are a few things Obambi has said so far to keep prices going up - like this:
1) Obama: Nothing wrong with higher-gas prices, he appreciates a gradual price rise! [Earth to Moron - eight years is gradual enough, with stagnant wages?] (keep price increasing)
2) Obama: will not lift the ethanol tariff. (keep price up)
3) Obama: will not lift gasoline taxes (keep price up)
4) Obama” will tax companies more, on their profits. How will they invest in new capacity? Oh, that’s right, he wont let them pursue any. Duh! What about those speculators? They don’t exist for Obama. There’s just the oil companies. (keep price increasing)
In summary, Zer0 will do absolutely nothing, to lower prices at the gas pump. He’s shown he couldn’t care less, Americans are hurt at the pump, and the price of oil fuels inflation in the entire economy. As Jamal has pointed out, with Hussein0, America’s will be “forced” to “change” - or else.
I personally applaud McCain’s declaration of at least 45 new Nuclear Plants. The most lefty country on earth - France, gets 80 % of its energy from Nuclear. No Mile Island meltdowns, no Chernobyls, just two pretty white-concrete chimneys through the countryside feeding hot-houses and nearby industries with hot-water and air. People need to get over the daydreams of free-energy. We have choices to make, and personally, nuclear has always appealed to me. If France and Japan can do it, so can we.

OMG Juanita, you always post something relevant to what I am thinking. I was just discussing this with my family.
McCain is showing himself to be a leader, he is always coming up with solutions to these problems while Mr. O or TurdO as you so often put it, still beats his 50 cent CHANGE drum.

That Obama is silent on the details of “his” energy policy should not be surprising. No matter what “policy” he is asked about, the very concept of “detailed planning” is beyond him. Maybe he is waiting for Clinton to make up the plan so that he can plagiarize (sp?) it.
Right on jwrjr…I was thinking the very same thing. Can you pin Obama down on anything? Just one thing he flip flops all the time. He has no plans because he doesn’t understand research and the word work. Do you know he padded his senatorial work in the Senate with 19 amendmentsd or bill that had no purpose until proposed….never found anything else on these ammendmentsor bills…he just doesn’t know how to get the job done because he doesn’t understand the goal!
The gas tax holiday was really silly. Both Mccain and Clinton were wrong and were pandering. I like my bridges and roads to be safe and giving up revenue with no guarantee that it will make a difference in prices (instead of paying for our infrastructure we will be paying that money to the oil companies who will keep raising prices)
Instead of a tax holiday, we need to take a consumption holiday. Take public transportation, car pool, or work from home. That is the only way to cut your gas expenses. Globalization has created a situation where huge populations are able to afford to consume. Anything we drill will probably go to China or India.
I do disagree with him that the ethanol taxes should be lifted. I think ethanol has too many unintended consequences — until they can start converting cornhusks.
Nuclear power is getting a second look because it generates a large amount of power without emissions of other fossil fuels. It appears to have the features that could address our concerns for global warming and energy independence.
Nuclear power has one problem. Waste. France spends hundreds of billions of dollars in waste disposal and worry about security, storage, and groundwater contamination. The French pay dearly for nuclear power in high rates. Keep in mind it is not just spent rods but everything that comes in contact with the nuclear materials.
Ground water contamination is a worry and you need to put a price on clean water. Water supply will become the most heated issue in the coming decades. Global warming is shifting water systems that rely on snow pack, and sea rise will start threatening the fresh water systems that are near the seas. Are we willing to risk what will be a precious resource — fresh water?
Our Yucca Mountain facility only has a 60 year capacity. Once that is filled where else can we store it? Near your town? Can we afford the cost of security, disposal, or security of materials given that they could be targeted by terrorists?
France is now dependent on Nuclear Power as they are far behind development of renewable energy resources and lack resources in fossil fuels.
When we make the decision to go nuclear it is not a decision we make for ourselves or our children but a decision we make for generations - 24,000 to 4 million years. Can we make structures that would hold up even 300 years? France’s storage facilities are built to last 300 years and the plan after that is for future generations to keep an eye on it. Will future generations follow directions or even remember where the waste is?
There is an argument that the only way people will get out of their hummers, Dodge Rams, Escalades, Town & Country’s and the only way auto companies will develop cars with high MPG is higher gas prices. Carter told us that this would happen and prepare for this, but did we listen? We just had to have that shiny new Escalade.
Do you understand how much oil companies make and still are dragging their feet in innovation? If we tax them we can use that money to fund real innovation. Oil companies are NOT hurting. The only problem with taxing them is that it will raise prices in response, but they do that anyway.
All the experts say the solution is a combination of conservation, biomass, solar, wind, algae technology is the way to go. Americans are still not doing the conservation that they could to make a difference. Americans need to change their lifestyle. The trend toward larger homes has done a lot to increase energy consumption. I much rather put the hundreds of billions of dollars required to store nuclear waste toward a Manhattan project for truly sustainable power and to help folks retrofit their homes to be more energy efficient, generate their own power, and fund projects to create more sustainable communities where you work where you live.
Did you know a piece of produce can travel an average of 1200 miles before you buy it? That is a lot of energy consumption. All those container ships from China and diesel trucks driving across the country bringing our stuff consumes energy. What I try to do is purchase things in concentric circles with most of my consumption from local producers within 25 miles and then 100 miles. You cut down the amount of driving to get the product to you and support your local or regional economy. Our way of life is based on a 50 year old notion that there is unlimited amount of cheap oil and we need not worry about the consequences.
There is a movement in California since we passed a law where local communities can vote to have their own local power from renewable sources. Local power can make us less vulnerable to a terrorist attack on regional grid systems. Local residents can get their power with 50% renewable power or 100% if they are willing to pay more. Every independent study done has shown that they can accomplish power generation for the same price or less. During the California energy crisis it was the localities
A big part of our problems need to be solved by ourselves. We need to build political pressure to get politicians to invest in renewables. We sent a men to the moon yet we dig a hole or put a 30 year old technology as a solution to our energy crisis. We are better than that.

As usual on this site, no attempt is made to actually analyze Barack Obama’s extensive energy and environmental proposals. And as far as the absurd gas tax holiday scheme goes, the inanity of that idea is best left to one of Hillary Clinton’s strongest supporters, Paul Krugman:
Obama was the only major candidate who had the courage to tell the public the truth instead of pandering for votes.

Mark and Mavin and other Obamanations, how much does the Obama campaign pay you to invade anti-Obama sites to post your contrarian rhetoric? $15 per hour?
The fact that you take the time to grace this blog and others like this tells me that you are bought tools for the Obamanation himself.
Hey Princess,
So, turning yourself over to God enlightened you to the point of casting dispersions on other people repeatedly and laughing at others expense. You’re so full of love. The fact that you even use a term like Obamanations tells me you haven’t read half the books on your site, or if you did read them you paid no attention to them. I’ve never seen someone who claims to be so spiritual so full of spite and anger and so quick to judge.
How much does Karl Rove and his “freedom watch” pay you or anyone here to perpetuate anti-Obama sludge?
Boy, talk about brains. I am not asking you to “dig” for Obama’s extensive concocted “blueprints” for Energy. How stupid do you have to be, to misunderstand the gist of my post?! Nor am I asking you to speak on his behalf - I am asking for him to talk- on prices!
In the last two weeks, in relation to the rising prices, Obama has made absolutely no signals, and shown absolutely any interest. He’s failed to make a single effort on the issue.
You’re pathetic if you have to actually “dig” for “his” views on Google. You should have some recent hence relevant quotes, prior to the date of my post - if you want me to post it.
As for your consumption holiday, “you” should take your extensive
urine for Obama, and run your cars with it. I’m sure that’s what he’ll eventually suggest - since at this stage, its his droplets who are making any of the suggestions while he just ridicules and pooh-poohs everyone elses ideas.
Good luck - junkies.

First and foremost Andy my relationship with God is PERSONAL. My spirituality is PERSONAL and is reflected by who I am as a person and my contributions to society, locally and globally. I don’t claim spirituality… I just am.
I genuinely care about humanity and if that means EXPOSING your beloved Barack Obama than so be it. Do you know what an Abomination is? I’ll help you with that definition in simple terms… WALKING DEAD!
I WILL continue to use my spare time to REVEAL the TRUTHS about Barack Obama and if I receive revelations about this man I WILL let others know.
By all means Andy, you have the free will to continue to walk in darkness. That is YOUR CHOICE! NOT MINE!
And another thing I find soooo amusing about you Obamanations, since I refused to post the OBSCENE comments or respond to your OBSCENE emails, YOU have been making on my blog, YOU have now chosen to publicly attack me by trying to diminish my character.
If you were NOT able to break my spirit privately what makes you think you will be able to break my spirit publicly. All of you are a piece of work…. You people remind me of the Omen Trilogy fiercly defending your leader at all cost!
Mark I believe Hillary’s plan for a gas holiday was not to suspend the tax but to have the oil companies pay the tax from their windfall profits. It would seem that if the oil companies had to pay the tax then the price would remain stable. That is if they raised the pretax price then the amount of tax would raise. So by raising the price they (the oil companies) pay more in taxes. That seems like a disincentive to raise the price. Either way, we (the consumers) win if we have lower prices via less gas tax or more revenues from the oil companies. Oh and shout out to Anhuruw…Andy, personal attacks, going to someones blog and sending rude emails, more politics of hope?
“Mark and Mavin and other Obamanations, how much does the Obama campaign pay you to invade anti-Obama sites to post your contrarian rhetoric? $15 per hour?”
Sigh. How do personal attacks accomplish anything? Have I ever asked you all if you are being paid by the Clinton or Mccain to put up an entire website like this? No. I am respectful enough to assume that you come to the market of ideas in the same spirit as I am — voluntarily exercising citizenship.
I don’t have to be paid to support my candidate. Since I was 18 in 1984, I have never had to be paid to work for the progressive causes I have fought for. I will gladly FOR FREE point out where there is misinformation from dubious sources. That is my gift to you and it is given joyfully and with an open heart. The better your sources and arguments the more successful you will be to make the case to me and others.
I come here to provide balance and not necessarily win you who run this site over. I am writing for people who come upon this site and let them decide who they think makes a stronger argument. Thank you for that opportunity. Many anti-Obama/pro-Clinton/pro-Mccain sites cannot stand to have their views challenged. Huzzah to you for having the courage to have your views challenged.
As an Obama supporter, when have I posted OBSCENE posts? When have I tried to break your spirit? I have come here in a spirit of goodwill, despite having people trying to make hurtful and disrespectful characterizations of me and those who are Obama supporters. Sometimes it is difficult when you are online to see those who you are arguing with as human beings.
Unlike some posters here I put myself out there and give means to prove I am a real person. I am not an anonymous troll and I am willing to stand by my words and have the ability to defend my words.
I again wish you all happiness, safety, wisdom, and well-being.
Namaste
IMP,
As usual your 3rd grade reading ability fails you. I never once emailed princess, and left only a couple comments, none of which were obscene.
Princess you’re delusional and a hypocrite. You remind me of an Old Testament follower who uses twisted bible passages to breed hate against women, homosexuals and people of color.
And to be fair Princess, you don’t post any comments on your site, obscene or otherwise. I doubt you get many obscene comments or email.
So, again, how much does Karl Rove pay you?
Again Andy, you continue to insult, the typical mock and shock, smear and fear tactics. Again I ask you Andrew, where is the politics of hope?
And Marin, is you are so weary of personal attacks as you say in your last post, why don’t you ever admonish Andhruw for his remarks?

Andy, you are entitled to your opionion. Do you feel better now?
IMP,
It isn’t Mavin’s fault society failed to give you a decent education, I’d blame your parents. Obama, Mavin and most of his supporters I see are about politics of hope. I’m none of those things, lucky for me.
I’m against retards like you and many on this site who are about politics of conspiracy and hearsay. It just happened that many of those types of people jumped on the anti-Obama train. Although I guess that probably isn’t a coincidence.
Well Andy, nice job. In just two short paragraphs you’ve revealed more about yourself than I could have ever hoped. I’m sure anyone reading this blog will consider what you just wrote in context to any further comments you may make.
Mark,
Next time you cite a source on economic theory, you should probably try an economist…not a NY Times Journalist indulging himself in in a fit of unadulterated hackery.
Mark quoted Paul Krugman:
“if the supply of a good is more or less unresponsive to the price, the price to consumers will always rise until the quantity demanded falls to match the quantity supplied.”
This statement is absurd. The premise is false; the conculsion is false, and the inference between the two rests on monkey-logic.
First, the supply of crude oil is absolutely dependent on the price.
We’ve already seen Indonesia back out of OPEC just last month: the costs of adhering to the output caps imposed by OPEC has exceeded the benefits of remaining with OPEC and continuing to curtailing their own output: in todays cirumstances, Indonesia clearly stands to proft far more by increasing its own output.
Second, as the price of crude oil increases, so do the incentives for further exploration and extraction from “non-traditional” sources. The Rocky Mountains in the west and the oil sands of Western Canada represent the worlds greatest supply of oil - of course the catch is that the cost of extracting oil from shale and sand are quite a bit more than sunctioning it out from a resevoir underground. But seeing as these alternative sources became profitable when crude was at $100 a barrel (boy, those were the days weren’t they?), that shouldn’t be a problem anymore.
Third, the market for oil is simply not a monopoly. It just isn’t. Although the market is puncuated with a cartel, OPEC doesn’t control the majority of current production. If anything their aim is to restrict supply (they’ve officially coded that in much nicer terms of course) - their only advantage is that they sit on the vast majority of the worlds most-easily accessible supply of oil.
Taxes inflate the price of a good, period. That’s it. There’s no flippen mystery there. Whether the consumer pays this or the firm depends on the circumstances of the market, the good, and the supply. In the vast majority of cases, the tax burden is split in some way or another between the firm and the consumer.
“Cut taxes, and all that happens is that the pretax price rises by the same amount.”
While this may be true in a market controlled by one firm (i.e. a monopoly) — a firm, mind you, that didn’t give a crap about screwing their image — oil, again, is not a one-firm market.
Given that demand for oil is outstripping supply (i.e. rate of growth in demand exceeding the rate of growth in supply), of course in the long-run the price at the pump would eventually return to “pre-no-tax” levels. But this return would have absolutely nothing to do with removing the tax.
“Obama was the only major candidate who had the courage to tell the public the truth instead of pandering for votes.”
Obama is a FRAUD. 100% F-R-A-U-D.
**In just two short paragraphs you’ve revealed more**
The first two times you said this it was meaningless too. Every time you post you reveal your ignorance more than anyone should have to tolerate. Although, at least you found your caps key, Good Job! Tomorrow you can work on how to dress yourself by yourself.
Just keep talking andy, you’re making my point all by your little lonesome.
Someone has to do it for you, you haven’t been able to do it for yourself.
Well, I’ve got you responding to my comments, even is just to mock me. If you feel my comments are beneath you andy, please, by all means, just scroll on by. You were attacking Princess earlier, now you’re attacking me, calling me stupid…wow, that’s really original andy. Got anymore playground bully comments to make? Wait, purely rhetorical andy, I’m sure you’ve got a million of them. Guess what, no matter how much you bully or threaten the 18 million strong who supported Hillary Clinton are not going away, and many are not voting for obama. Obama needs us, hes just too arrogant to admit it, a lot like you andy.
18 million strong, that’s a good one.
You know how many people showed up at the “big” protest for Hillary during the “big” meeting, 300-500 or so and many of them were Obama supporters. Do you know how many people showed up to watch a totally unscheduled 18 holes of golf on a Monday morning, 25,000. I’m guessing most of them were McCain supporters, just a guess though. So, I don’t believe your 18 million strong. It’s more like 1000’s strong, and most of them get so worked up they get to their computer and that’s about it. As far as them going away, Hillary supporters in general are poor and old, they’ll go away quickly enough on their own.
As far as responding to you, I’d completely forgotten about you until you stuck your foot in your mouth again parroting the 2 million homes foreclosed this year stupidity and you mentioned me in the process. You should go look to see if we reached the 2 million goal this year or not, maybe there is a prize! While you’re at it, dig up that whitey tape, my popcorn is getting stale.
Oh, and see if Rezko is ready to testify that Obama got kickbacks while snorting cocaine and having gay sex in a men’s room in Lebanon at precisely the exact time Cheney and Kristol blew up building #7 on 9/11. Check the phone records it’s ALL TRUE!
You’re right though, Obama needs you and your vote IMP, go do it! Wait, please don’t, vote McCain, fewer taxes for me!
Yes andy, I probably will vote McCain…fewer taxes for you? You mean your parents. Go back to your room and listen to your ipod now andy.
Woohoo! McCain is counting on you bringing your 17, 999,999 friends with you too, don’t forget!
PUMA forever!
Jamal, Jeef, Juanita, Greg…
Can we please delete the posts that have more to do with who can have the last “not an ounce of useful information” word than the original article?
Yes andy! I see you’ve been paying attention! What a good little boy, here’s your sticker. I have jointed PUMA! Just Say No Deal! And come NOvember….NObama!

Rob,
PUMA forever! is very relevant. Get with the program.
Here is another “ounce of useful information” you should enjoy.
http://tinyurl.com/3wfhlk
Rob, the relevance is indeed lack of substance. Obama is an arrogant empty suit, just like andy. When it comes to the real issues that are relevant to all Americans, particularly working class Americans, Obama is AWOL. Much like andy and his elistist attitude about foreclosures (we’re talking about people losing their homes andy!). The price of a gallon of gas is not just an academic exercise for most people. The pain at the pump is real.
Nuclear power plants..yeah sure..dead fish and dead birds for a 50 mile radius is not my idea of energy. I know. We had one and shut it down in the early 80’s.. a park is nearby and off limits to people. neighboring wet lands are destroyed. It’s time people dish out the money to do other alternatives.
A gas tax relief would have benefitted alot of people even if you fail to see it. Period!
Nuclear power plants = radiation for miles around and polluted waters..how about drinking the downstream stuff. You first.
Lou, we have a nuclear plant here in San Onofre, California. Its been here for as long as I can remember. I scuba dive off the coast right next door in Dana Point, California. No problems there. We, the masses are the real causes of pollution in every which way.
Here is a link for you to get more informed:

Same is true in Avila Beach, CA…there sits the Diablo Cyn nuclear plant. No problems with the nuclear plant but ironically the town of Avila Beach went through a major rennovation and clean up of oil and gas contamination from Unocal’s (or previously Union Oil) 100 years worth of sending oil from the fields of Central CA to the port of Avila.

this guys had a cake walk with the media cuz they want him in
